It has perhaps the most outstanding natural wonder, situated in the Mountainous Hazarajat at an attitude of approx.3000m, 75 km from Bamiyan, this majestic blue lake is so popular by its exquisite beauty.

Trip to Band E Amir, Afghanistan
During a week end we (all friends) working in Kabul decided to go with Olivier and Bryan (Pilots) to Band E Amir lakes via Bamyan. We flew their beechcraft 200 king Air over the lakes and empty landscape, swam in lakes and came back. Afghanistan is not just war. check it out.

Bande Amir, the Blue Lakes, Afghanistan, surrounded by great desert-like mountain scenery. Once an attraction on the hippie trail, they are now somewhat remote and hard to reach - and to get away from. I ended up stuck there overnight, having missed the last bus of the afternoon.
